Oi there boy, where ya to?

September 30, 2009

So… I’m not even going to check when the last time I blogged was…

I had a blast the last 2 weeks travelling around Germany, Austria and Italy and there are SO many images I am going to share with you VERY soon! For now, I wanted to to give you all a taste of the next blog posts coming up in the days to come.

I hope you can feel these images.

For those of you that don’t know the story behind this image yet (below), I can’t WAIT to tell you!! :)

…as for the title of this blog post… I’ve been listening to Great Big Sea for the last few hours straight… I think my mind has temporarily been east-coast-transplanted ;)

Hello Friends! I’d like to share with you a glimpse into the beautiful connection between Nikki and Dave. They are two very beautiful people and it was beyond amazing getting the opportunity to see the following moments I am about to show you in person. The rain this particular day was a little crazy at times, but we didn’t let anything slow us down. We wandered around the streets in New Westminister for a while and then headed up to Deer Lake Park for a change of scenery. I am extremely excited to get the chance to photograph them for a full day on their Vancouver Wedding in May!

Walt and Deadee are getting married in October at the Oakridge United Church near Queen Elizabeth Park and having their reception at the ah-maze-ing Kirin Restaurant in New West. These guys put a lot of trust into me at their engagement session, (I REALLY wanted to try some night photos but had never done it up until their session) and for that I sincerely thank them for being my guinea pigs! lol! I am super happy with how they turned out! I am SO excited to see you guys again in October for your Big Day!

Yup, Totally diggin’ the red shoes!

Love this one!

True Love ;)

I STILL don’t have a clue what he whispered into her ear… and I think its best that way. :)

Fave #2! I love English Bay. *le sigh* (wait…thats french…)

(below) ABSOLUTE favorite of the session!

Finally we drove to Gas Town for some more night photos. I love the street lights!

Oooohhhh, FOX-Y LAD-Y!!!

Hey Walt, GQ called, they want their looks back.

Love EVERYTHING about this walking shot! :)

I first heard about Chelsea through my best friend Ben’s sister Amanda. :) I have known Amanda since she was knee-high to a grasshopper, and so when she said that her friend was getting engaged and that it would be AWESOME if I shot her wedding, I agreed! (and we both jumped and giggled like little girls…except she IS a girl, and I’m just…weird.) Finally Chelsea contacted me and immediately we hit it off. She and I had talked for MONTHS in emails and on the phone about her wedding, making sure everything was going to be absolutely perfect! We never really actually met in person until the day before her wedding :)

The wedding day was absolutely perfect! The weather was amazing, everything was on time, and everyone was so extremely caring and welcoming! They really did make me feel like family in the few minutes they met me! During Chelsea’s mom’s speech at the reception, she even thanked me in front of everyone for bringing her a raisin muffin from Tim Horton’s in the morning lol. (Ya, I was in the drive-thru on the way to the salon in the morning and thought it would be best to call everyone and double check that people were eating lol).

I also have to mention a quick little thing about Vance. He’s a pretty cool dude. He had me in stitches a few times, and thats pretty hard to do, as I am usually the one TRYING to make people laugh :) Also, for the record, his speech to Chelsea at the reception?….brought. the. house. down. Not a dry eye in the bunch. Rock on, bud!

Thank you so much guys for letting me be a part of your big day! I had an awesome time with you at your wedding, and I am STOKED to see you guys again at Amanda and Ryan’s wedding next year!!!! :)

Kelly + Dave : Wedding

September 2, 2009

When I got to The Brock House for Kelly and Dave’s intimate wedding I remember thinking how amazing the next few hours were going to be. I met Kelly over a year or so ago through a mutual friend of ours, Carrie (who worked on the cruise ships with Grit and I). Kelly is an extremely positive, beautiful, caring woman, that just lights up the room and all around her, and so when she had asked me to photograph her wedding I was beside myself. HOWEVER, I hadn’t met Dave yet… formally anyways. When Grit and I met up with Kelly and Dave for their Engagement Session in Queen Elizabeth Park a few months ago, I was a WEE bit nervous… Luckily, Dave is one of those guys that you can get along with instantly and immediately feel like you are best friends! We had an absolute blast shooting their esession that night, which then made me EXTREMELY excited for their wedding! Everyoen was pretty mellow and relaxed when I arrived for their wedding, but when the music came on and Kelly walked down the aisle, there was this feeling of energy and love and happiness, it was SO amazing! Everyone had a tear or two when she walked towards Dave with her father, (including yours truly, but I was fortunate to be able to hide it with a camera in front of my face lol).

Here is their wedding slideshow. We all decided that the best song would be the song Kelly walked down the aisle to. So beautiful! :)
